How Much Does a Bernedoodle Cost in Utah?

How Much Does a Bernedoodle Cost in Utah? - Country Lane Doodles blog

"How much are your puppies?" is usually the first question we get, and it deserves a straight answer. Here's what our Bernedoodles cost, what that price includes, and what to budget for after your puppy comes home.

    Our Bernedoodle prices

Our micro Bernedoodle puppies are $4,000, and our merle puppies are $4,500. Every puppy's price is listed on their own profile on our available Bernedoodles page, so there's no "call for pricing" and no haggling.

Why do merle puppies cost more? Merle is a rarer coat pattern, and producing it responsibly takes more planning. A merle dog should only ever be paired with a non-merle, because two merle parents can produce puppies with serious eye and hearing problems. Color never changes how we raise a puppy, what's included, or the guarantee — every puppy gets exactly the same care.

Across Utah, you'll see Bernedoodles advertised for far less and occasionally far more. Price alone won't tell you much. What it's paying for will.

    What the price includes

Every Country Lane Doodles puppy goes home with:

    • A veterinary health exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, and a completed deworming schedule
    • A microchip, with registration information
    • Our one-year health guarantee, with the full terms published
    • 30 days of free Trupanion pet insurance, when activated within 24 hours of go-home
    • A go-home bag with food, a blanket, a toy, and records
    • Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) from days 3 to 16
    • Sound desensitization, crate introduction at four weeks, and potty-tray training from six weeks
    • Lifetime support from Sara — for questions at any age, and a promise to take your dog back if you ever can't keep them

    Where the money actually goes

Most of what makes a well-bred puppy expensive happens before the puppy exists:

    • Health testing the parents. Genetic panels, hip and patellar evaluations, and cardiac checks can run $1,500 to $3,000 or more per dog. You can see every parent's results on our parent dogs page.
    • Stud fees for quality, health-tested sires.
    • Veterinary care — prenatal, whelping, puppy exams, vaccinations, and the emergencies nobody plans for.
    • Time. Round-the-clock care at whelping, then daily handling, enrichment, and socialization for eight weeks.

We keep litters small on purpose, so every puppy gets real one-on-one time. Our pricing page goes into this in more detail, including a note from Sara on why she won't cut corners to hit a lower number.

Why a much cheaper puppy is a risk

A Bernedoodle priced far below the going rate usually costs less because something was skipped — untested parents, no early socialization, puppies raised in a barn or kennel, or no written guarantee. Those gaps don't always show up on day one. They show up later as fearfulness, a puppy who can't settle, or a vet bill that genetic testing would have prevented.

Before you pay anyone a deposit, ask to see health testing for both parents, ask how the puppies are raised day to day, and ask to read the contract. Our post on red flags when choosing a doodle breeder covers what else to watch for.

    How payment works

    • $500 deposit once your application is in. It reserves one specific puppy — any puppy we have listed as available, at any age — and goes toward the total price. It's non-refundable. Puppies are first come, first served: the first deposit we receive for a puppy takes them off the market.
    • Remaining balance is due when your puppy turns six weeks old.
    • Go-home day is at eight weeks.

You can read the full puppy contract before you apply, and our post on how reserving works walks through every step.

    Optional: in-home training

Some families want a head start before their puppy comes home. We offer one-on-one training in our home as an add-on:

    • 1-week package — $900. Sit and down on cue, crate comfort, leash introduction. Goes home at about 9 weeks.
    • 3-week package — $2,500. Our most popular: come, stay, place, overnight crate settling, and short loose-leash walks. Goes home at about 11 weeks.
    • 5-week package — $3,900. Distance, duration, multiple handlers, and a goal specific to your family. Goes home at about 13 weeks.

Details are on our pricing page. None of it is required — every puppy already comes home with a strong foundation.

What to budget for after go-home day

The puppy price is the biggest single cost, but not the only one. Plan for:

    • Setup — a crate with a divider, an exercise pen, bowls, a collar and harness, and toys. Our puppy supplies list has what we use.
    • Vet care — the rest of the vaccine series, a wellness exam within 72 hours of go-home (it's required for the guarantee), parasite prevention, and spay or neuter.
    • Grooming — a Bernedoodle coat needs brushing several times a week and a professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks for life. It's the ongoing cost new owners underestimate most.
    • Pet insurance after the free 30 days, if you decide to keep it.
    • Training — a puppy class is worth it even for a well-started puppy.

Micro Bernedoodles eat less and fit in smaller crates than standard-size dogs, so day-to-day costs run lower. Grooming still matters just as much.

    Is a Bernedoodle worth it?

For the right family, yes — a healthy, well-started puppy is a 12-to-15-year companion, and what you pay up front is a small part of that. The right fit matters more than the price. If you're weighing it up, our Bernedoodle breed guide covers temperament and care, and you can always ask Sara a question before applying.
